Please Help! My phone fell in water!?

Please help! My Razr fell in the water and I can%26#39;t replace it for a free one (I already called the company). They said I could only replace it if I had insurance for the phone. And since I don%26#39;t, I was wondering if I could buy insurance for my phone and then call Cingular a couple days later to say my phone fell in the water. Would the insurance cover it? And would the company know? Please help me!

Answer:

Put it under a high intensity lamp.. it will dry it out

and should be good as new in a day or two.

Good Luck... my friend did that...she just let it dry and it was fine. hope that works for you. That%26#39;s called insurance fraud. you should either be carefull next time there is no other way for getting a new phone except buying a new one =( sorry Yeah just commit insurance fraud- that%26#39;s what Paris would do...avoid personal responsibility and cry for mommy (mommy in your case is the insurance provider) Yeah i dont man,i mean its gonna cost prob 50 bucks to get the phone cause the insurance has a deductible, but wtf its worth a try! Take out the battery, don%26#39;t turn it on and let it dry out in a sunny place. That will be cheaper than your insurance scam. A couple of days without the phone? You might like it. You need a new phone, yours is permanently damaged. Here is why.

The water itself does not cause much damage to the phone once it dries out, however all water contains minerals ( similar to the stuff you find on a shower head ) when the water dries in the phone the minerals are left behind as they cannot evaporate. These minerals are somewhat electrically conductive, and when they come into contact with the tiny circuits in the phone, they create new electrical paths, which results in complete failure of the device. You cannot fix this damage yourself, and the cost to actually repair the device would exceed it%26#39;s replacement value.
