Question about a locked Verizon Wireless phone?

Hi there! I bought a phone off of www.craigslist.com and it was siposed to be unlocked but it was locked when i went to transfer it to me...i can not get ahold of the guy and wondering if there are people who can unlock phones..i live in sacramento california. i paid 180 dollars on friday for it and its a Motorola KRZR. When I called the activation line i talked to a rep and she said it was because he has a 500 dollar bill and it was just turned off 2 days before i paid for the phone! That makes no since how they can keep it locked if someone else has the phone..please write back with maybe a phone number or a web site..i just know of CINGULAR UNLOCKS..Never heard of VERIZON UNLOCKS!

Answer:

Sorry, but you just got scammed. That person knew his phone was going to be shut off, and that%26#39;s why he sold it. FYI, CDMA phones cannot be unlocked. That%26#39;s why you don%26#39;t see anything about unlocked Verizon or Sprint phones. Unlocked only refers to GSM and iDEN phones. It means they can be used with any GSM provider(GSM phones only) or iDEN provider(iDEN phones only). The ONLY way that you will be able to activate that phone is if that guy pays his bill off completely. NEVER buy a CDMA phone without checking the ESN number first. If the seller doesn%26#39;t want to give you the ESN number so that you can check it, then don%26#39;t buy it from that person. If its locked because of his bill go online (verizonwireless.com) and follow the steps to transfer your current phone plan to that phone.its pretty simple just take out the battery and enter some numbers they will give you step by step instructions...Once you do that the lock code will be the last 4 digits of your phone number. are u trying to get service through verizon or cingular? but like the guy above me said if its through verizon just go to ur account and try to change the ESN if that doesnt work ur probably S.O.L. just next time u buy a phone off craigslist or ebay ask for the ESN and call and make sure that its good.
