I%26#39;ve seen them in use on films (set in america). I%26#39;ve not seen the facility on UK phones. Is it available and if so what phones have it and which network offers it? Is it worth considering at all, as with most phones not seemingly having the facility, presumably I could only use it between compatible phones?
Answer:
It is called Direct Connect. There are two cellular companies in my area that offer it 1. Nextel(owned by Sprint and Boost Mobile is the prepaid Nextel company) and 2. SouthernLinc They exist alright. They are called %26#39;Walky Talkies%26#39;. Maybe not in the UK, but in the US there are many Nextel users that are linked with it%26#39;s subsidiary, Boost Mobile. Check out www.boostmobile.com for some info It%26#39;s not available in the UK yet. i think Vodafone are currently running tests Are you sure you%26#39;re not talking about the %26#39;speakerphone%26#39; ability that most phones have. Where you can put the phone on speaker, put it down and still chat. PTT is old walkie-talkie tech used when both com devices are using a single radio frequency, only one person can use that freq. at any one time.
